Privacy Policy

Linky Hoop is built to know as little about you as it can. This page explains what it does handle, what it keeps, and who else is involved.

The short version

  • No accounts, no ads and no tracking or analytics.
  • We never keep your picture. A design you’re only previewing is held in memory for about 30 minutes and then discarded. If you pay for one, we keep that finished design for 30 days so you can download it again.
  • Card details go straight to Stripe. We never see them.
  • The only personal data we keep is the record of a paid order, including the email address you gave at checkout.

Pictures and designs

An image you upload (up to 12 MB) is used only to make your stitch file. It’s processed in the server’s memory and is not written to disk. A design you’re only previewing stays in memory for about 30 minutes so you can preview, adjust and download it, then it’s discarded. When you go to pay, the finished design (its stitches, thread colors and layout, never your picture) is saved on our server: for up to 48 hours while you check out, so that a slow payment or a restart can’t lose it, and for 30 days after you pay, so you can come back and download it again from the link we show you. Then it’s deleted. There are no accounts: anyone who has your link can download that design, so keep it to yourself. If you sign in to My designs with the email you paid with, we keep your designs for 365 days from each time you sign in instead.

Describe-it (AI) requests

If you use the “describe it” box, the words you type are sent to OpenAI to create a picture, and the picture comes back to you and goes through the same steps as an upload. We don’t keep your description. OpenAI handles what it receives under its own terms and privacy policy.

Convert-to-clip-art (AI) requests

If you use “Convert to Clip Art (AI)”, the photo you chose is sent to OpenAI, which draws a clip-art version of it. Before it’s sent the photo is shrunk and re-saved, which removes the camera’s hidden details such as where it was taken. The drawing comes back to you and goes through the same steps as an upload. A photo can show people, pets and your home, so only use a picture you’re comfortable sending. We don’t keep the photo or the drawing beyond the roughly 30 minutes a design stays in memory. OpenAI handles what it receives under its own terms and privacy policy.

Payments and orders

When you buy a download you’re sent to a payment page run by Stripe, which collects your card details and your email address. We never see or store your card number. Stripe tells us that the payment went through, the amount and currency, and your email address, and we keep an order record with those, the date, and a Stripe reference number. We keep it for bookkeeping, tax and support, and to answer questions about a purchase. Stripe’s own handling of your data is described in Stripe’s privacy policy.

Emails we send

When you buy a download we email the address you gave at checkout once, with a link to download your design again; it works for 30 days. Stripe sends your receipt separately. These emails are sent through Resend, an email service, which receives your address and the message. We don’t send marketing email.

Signing in to My designs

You never have to sign in: the link shown after you pay, and the one we email you, work on their own. If you’d like to find your designs in one place and keep them longer, you can enter the email address you paid with and we’ll email you a link that works once, for 15 minutes. There are no passwords and no accounts to create. While you’re signed in we keep a record linking that browser to your email address, and a cookie that keeps you signed in for 30 days. Each time you sign in we keep the designs you’ve paid for for 365 days from then. You can sign out, or remove any design from My designs, at any time, and if you’d like everything we hold about you deleted, email support@linkyhoop.com.

What’s stored in your browser

The site remembers your choices on your own device so you don’t have to repeat them: things like hoop size, units, file format, fabric color and machine. It also stores a random ID, which is not tied to your name or email, used to count free AI generations, and (briefly, while you’re at the payment page) enough information to hand you your download when you return. This lives in your browser’s local storage, not in cookies, and you can clear it any time in your browser’s settings. We don’t set cookies on visitors. Stripe’s payment page may use its own.

Technical information

Like any website, the server and the company that hosts it see your IP address and basic browser details when you connect, and may keep them in routine server logs. The site may also use your IP address to limit free AI generations, when that limit is switched on. We don’t use this information to track you or build a profile.

Who else is involved

We don’t sell your information or share it for advertising.

Your choices

You can use the site to preview and adjust designs without giving us an email address at all. If you’d like a copy of the order information we hold about you, or want it corrected or deleted where the law lets you ask, email support@linkyhoop.com. We may need to keep some records (for example, for tax purposes) even after a request.

The site is meant for adults: buying a download takes a payment card, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us an email address, write to support@linkyhoop.com and we’ll delete it.

Changes

If we change how the site handles information we’ll update this page and its date. For anything else, see the contact page.
